Lace weight merino wool can in general be either 1 or 2 ply and knitted or crocheted on 2mm to 3.5mm needles or hook. Used for delicate lace knitting and intricate work, fab for lightweight garments, shawls, gloves and superfine socks. 

Lace weight yarns can often be used two stands together and up sizing your needle or hook. This method will bring the weight of the yarn up to more of a 4ply, either single colour or using two different colourway combinations to create a marled effect or combining one strand of merino lace with one strand of kid mohair.
